I know that the Chinese haven't used the 85mm gun for a long time - it's severally outdated. I just brought up a rather interesting fact about a particular HEAT round for it. :)

I guess the HEAT with 800mm RHA penetration you've mentioned was PF98A. ;)

Just watched a documentary last night about the Gulf War. They spent a fair bit of time talking about depleted uranium sabot rounds (apparently it was the first time they were employed), and from what I heard they were deadly as hell.

Mainly because they're:
a) extremely massive (with immense kinetic energy).
b) extremely accurate.
c) extremely streamlined (so very little air resistance/energy falloff).
d) pyrophoric, meaning they combust upon impact and create a fireball that incinerates any ammunition/crewmembers inside the target vehicle.
e) radioactive enough that vehicles destroyed by sabot rounds were dangerously irradiated.

I don't know how a HEAT round could top that, even against light vehicles...

Exactly. This is why tanks are still the master of ground combat. ;)

Great documentary..!!
I have one thing that I think everybody will be agreed with me to implement in this game....

I think The Stryker ICV should lose the 105mm cannon upgrade and ATGM upgrade...

why: because it is really annoying when this vehicle change his main armament front your eyes like art of magic...

the same happen with the ZBD2000...(abulance,105mm cannon)

I think the best way is create these vehicles directly from the main factory... avoid this magical transformation...

what do you think?

It's part of the gameplay - vCoH had it with the M3 Halftrack turning into the M16 with the quad .50. Also with the German halftrack and the flamer and rocket upgrades. This is mainly a vanilla mod, so keep to vanilla things. It's also strategically effective - you can start the 105mm upgrade and drive up this rather weak halftrack (or APCs, in Modern Combat) to the enemy and they won't move. Then the upgrade pops and the enemy is left right next to a unit that can counter it effectively.

Hardcore, on the other hand, I wouldn't mind so much - it's generally much more realistic. So making some of the heavier field upgrades unavailable would be fine.

Maybe makeing those upgrades only avaliable in command area would be fine.

There may be a revised Stryker upgrade system in the future. Not sure yet though.

The stryker is easy to do for example:

I use the Stryker ICV like medic vehicle with a single upgrade (50 cal). that only can carry 8 soldiers + 4 paramedics (ability) =12 soldiers...

I added the Stryker IFV like main troops transport, of course I deleted the command vehicle ability and the paramedic ability but he can carry 12 soldiers...

the Stryker ATGM already exist, that means: you do not need use the upgrade for ICV, the same happen with the MGS...

The worst problem that you have are the PLA vehicles because some of those vehicles only can be available with a upgrade option (medic vehicle, AT vehicle, Repair vehicle) they are not available on normal terms...
