[Fixed] Flickering textures on US infantry

I don't know what's causing it, but the textures from all the infantry soldiers is flickering and "jumping" all over the screen. I believe it might be a error with the 3d models too, because it is recognized as a character who is behind a tree or something like that.

I tryed several configurations, and the bug still happens. Happened on both Skirmish and Campaign. Playing at Ultra graphics.

I even thought that it was a conflict with Blietzkrig mod, but it isn't, I made a clean install of the game on Steam, and the bug still happens. Here are some screenshots to show what I mean.





I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bits with all drivers updated.

My PC specs are:
AMD Phenom II X4 925 2,81GHz
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6870 MSI Twin Frozr II 1GB GDDR 5

Oh, and this bug didn't happened on both the vanilla Company of Heroes (Both old an new Steam version) and on Blietzkrig mod. I have also deleted the configurations folder on My Games to see if it would fix it, but had no luck.

This is because of the Ultra Shader effects, you have to change your Shader Effects to High.

I've been on here a few times to complain about this so I figure I might as well complain some more.

I was really hoping the new version and/or the move to this new Steam version of COH would finally let us play MC with Ultra graphics settings. Sadly, I was wrong.

I am baffled why this bug hasn't been fixed in 4-5 versions since it was introduced. The original MC didn't have this problem, and while I have no idea what version "broke" Ultra settings and COH:MC, I really, really wish - hell, I'm basically begging - you guys to fix it. COH is an OLD game. Anyone still playing it has long ago upgraded their PCs and just about everyone can run this game on max at a buttery 60 FPS. Modern Combat is a beautifully detailed mod, and I want to see and play that detail in the highest possible settings. I don't really play COH competitively, so when I log on, it's just for the visual / fun experience, and not being able to play at max settings takes away from that.

I figure it is a tremendously complex problem, but please... if it is possible, find a way to re-enable Ultra shaders for MC. I know maybe it doesn't mean a lot to most players, but for some of us, it's really important.

It's present in EVERY mod. It's also a problem with the core game, something modders can't change. Nothing to fix because they literally CAN'T fix it.

The main issue is that it doesn't happen on my computer. My Ultra settings work fine. It is likely to be a problem with the improper setup of DX10 by Relic. I can't really fix something I can't see

The game engine never really fully supported DX10, it was a hash up done to cash in on the DX10 craze that was running round when the update patch was released, if you look in the actual DX10 folder you will see that the only textures they added that were any different were a few flowers and plants plus a few ground textures.

From a modding point of view, you cannot make something DX10 ultra shader compatable, when all you have to work with ar DX9 shaders in your shaders folder. Not one of the shaders we have got btw states DX10 before it, they all state DX9.

Another issue you will have is that no Radeon card, irrespective of how exspensive it is, or if its the latest or not, will fully support the workaround DX10 used in COH, primarily because at the Time of the DX10 patch, NVidia and Radeon were at war over PhysX, and As NVidia had bought the license for the PhysX engine from 3dfx, and put the core components on all of theyre graphics cards, they refused ATI access to it, which is why your ATI Card will never work on anything other then PhysX settings at LOW in coh also.

Although ATI have tried to work round this they have as yet not managed it, and its been 5 years. NVidia even went to the extreme of withdrawing PhysX driver support from all the separate PhysX accelerator cards that were already on the market.(making it a requirement to have an NVidia card installed before your accelerators driver would work) . This really annoyed me as it basically made the PhysX accelerator I had at the time worthless.

In the end I went back to Nvidia cards anyway, due to ATIs terrible support and several bad experiences with faulty cards. But that said in all honesty even I have problems with an NVidia card on ultra settings, the coding for DX10 in COH just was not done correctly, it was rushed and hashed. Basically half arsed, it simply cannot be fixed and the only settings I would guarantee for the shader are High.

So that would make getting the Ageia Card that was out when PhysX was beginning to get popular obsolete anyway, good to know I know I'm on nV for more than half a decade now and had very few flaws with it, despite the ATI I had were sufficient enough for its time but I don't think I'd make the switch, but I'd still buy AMD just for the price/performance win they give so that will have them going from my point.

Yeah annoyed me, I had a 4890 and a 512 meg Ageia card running quite merrily at the time. Then Nvidia and ati started Squabbling and bang went my PhysX. tbh I would have stayed on atis, but the 5700 really killed them for me, had 3 all got sent back before I got a crossfire rig running, then two weeks after warranty one of them died. So I outed it for spares and the working one on ebay, and just went back to nvidias. But I admit money wise ATIs are very reasonable. Its just the difference in rendering and PhysX I don't like, so I don't think id go back to one unless they came out with something spectacular.

Ok guys, well thanks for the explanation. I hope I didn't come off as ungrateful or demanding; I really do love the mod and I think the overall conversion is astonishing and absurdly well done. I was just confused because I remember playing the early version(s) of the mod on Ultra just fine, then a patch came and the flickering began and has never left.
