An idea of balancing PLA MLRS

Post by South »

Before patch 1.015, many of US players are complaining BM21(Type 81 MLRS - they are exactly the same weapon) too overpowered, and after patch 1.016, coming out too late makes Type 89 MLRS(which replaced Type 81) becoming kind of useless. It's really hard to make such a weapon well-balanced.
In my opinion, we can try to give PLA MLRS a "manaully reloading" feature: every time before MLRS firing, it must be reloaded manually (by an upgrade or ability, takes 20-30 seconds and costs some ammo) near HQ and/or some specific points (like a munition point or a upgraged bunker). This will make those MLRS more predictable, and easy to be counterattacked, while not making it too weak or even useless.

This kind of feature will be also useless. Do you even use your Type 81 vehicles well? And tell me, do you take these opinions from PvsP games or compstomps? But to be honest, I do not remember when this mod was lately balanced based on PvsP games because amount of PvsP games here is very low. And the mod cannot be balanced based on compstomps.

And I don't understand how Type 81 became more weak? It was only replaced by another MRLS unit and moved to tier 4.

Excuse me, but what does compstomps mean?
I play PvsP with my classmates and friends often, and sometimes we play the mod together vs AI. And I personally uses PLA more often.

Compstomps = playing vs AI

I believe you, but it would be better if you provive us PvsP replays because they are the best to judge balance. You know, I could say that Abrams tanks are useless, but without replays, my talking would be rather ridiculous and not serious.

All we did was take out the T81 (for now) and give the PHZ89 increased suppression to compensate. We also removed the PHZ89's lockdown requirement as there have always been coding problems with it and it wasn't really necessary anyway.

The PHZ89 itself doesn't come out any later than it did before, and it isn't supposed to be a straight replacement for the T81. We just combined their different roles into one T4 unit.

PLA players are now limited to only two MLRS vehicles, and the number of rockets fired per barrage has been reduced (with the cooldown between barrages reduced as well). This means that the PHZ89 can fire more frequently, but isn't as devastating when it does. We thought this would be fairer for both sides.

Adding a munitions cost to each barrage just takes us back to where we were before, a unit that's basically useless unless you keep paying for it. The reloading feature would just be extra micromanagement. Much better to further balance it by modifying the power of its barrage or its initial cost.

I don't understand the OP. First the says the T4 artillerytruck is "kinda useless" and in the next sentence he suggests it needs a manual reload and having to be near HQ or a munitionpoint....

I want to know though, is the T4 artillerytruck a copy of the Calliope?

It fires fewer missiles from my experience, but otherwise seems the same as the Calliope.

That's why I'm suggesting this.
