Some suggestions about changes of Marine faction

Post by South »

* Replace M1A2 in mech commander tree with M1A1.
Marine corp are still using M1A1 which have same firepower with M1A2 but weaker armor. it can be called in with a group of infantry like "Last push" ability of PLA total mobillization commander tree, or two tanks together like Panzerelite of original COH.
* Replace M1A2 TUSK in close quarder combat commander tree with M728 CEV.
M728 CEV is based on M60A1 chassis, and has an 165mm demolition cannon which very effective against building, infantry and non-composite armor. It can also repair other vehicle with its crane boom.

------

* Replace M2A3 Bradley of Marine faction with Warhammer Bradley - which has it TOW replaced by Javelin. Warhammer Bradley fires ammo-free Javelin missiles and has the ability of vertical strike on enemy armor.

So, the M1A1 will have the 105mm cannon? I mean, I don't think 900 PM is worth a smaller gun, and it's too little MP with supporting infantry.

Well, a 165mm shell, eh? I do suppose it would be useful to get rid of those pesky bunkers, but what of the function of the gun? Would it be like the AVRE, where it's pay-per-shot, or can it just fire normally, like the StuH?

We'd hoped to adjust the doctrinal units over time (like with MSOs and SEALs).

M728 would be a decent alternative to the TUSK but it's no longer in active service. We discussed the Assault Breacher Vehicle but figured its main cannon would be too unconventional.

We may just go the CoH2 route and put an M1A1 in both trees. For now at least.

MICLIC, huh? That would be quite interesting to see a giant strant of C4 just go boom and shread the enemy. :P But I can see why it's a bit odd.

M1A1s for everyone! :) Or, two doctrines at least.

Nope, M1A1 has the same 120mm gun like M1A2, 105mm cannon is only used in even earlier version of M1 Abrams (M1 and M1IP).
About M728 CEV, I think it fire normally like StuH, but with a stronger firepower.

ABV is only effective vs mines...PLA won't have limitless ammo to bear mines all over the map.
Maybe it could help to reveal a large area of map?

Yeah, in the end we decided not to add it. Aside from being a bitch to code it probably wouldn't have looked right or played well either.

M728 would be great... if it was still in active service with the USMC. :(

It was still using by US Army Reserve and National Guards...If the total war occurs, maybe Marine and Navy Seebees will need something like this? Anyway this is a fictional war, M1064 Mortor carrier and MH-6 littlebird are not used by marine, either. Reasonable is good. :)

Also, US have thousands of M60 in storage, they need to be put into use...:)

Most of these things just wouldn't make sense, especially the M60.

As I've said several times, while we don't actually operate the MH-6/AH-6, it's not unheard of for Marines to receive support from them. The M1064 I'll give you, and I think should be replaced by the LAV variant.

Talking about ABV, I have another idea.
The line charge of ABV can be launched to 350 feet(about 100m) away, and it has 5 pound(about 2.25kg) C4 explosive on each foot(30cm) - enough to make a havoc in a well defended position. If it can destroy mine and IED, it can also stun infantry, destroy bridges, and even destroy bunkers, only put some more C4 on the line charge.

ABV in game will fire 3 or more satchel charge spread in a line one time, and it detonate once they dropped on the ground. It is effective vs bridge, garrisoned building, and bunker. it can also stun/shock infantry and disable light armor/vehicle.

Marine didn't engage large quantity of ambushed infantry or bunker in Afghanistan, but it doesn't mean ABV can't deal with it. During Chinese Civil War, PLA uses barrels to launch satchel charge like mortars, to destroy bunkers of ROC Army(and even use it as howitzer. PLA don't have their howitzer that time), and it's proved very effective(for this reason it was given the name "Inhuman cannon" or "没良心炮"by ROC soldiers). Useing line charges to destroy bunkers is a lot in the similar way.
