CoH: Modern Combat

hello good sir's:

i need help regarding installation. you see i already downloaded the MC 1.016 and i have a pending patch 1.017 and 1.018 ready to install. i have COH OF. that i have downloaded it from a torrent. everything is working fine with the game but however much frustration with the mod i have installed steam as requested by many users of the mod. the frustrating thing is as follows:

1. Installed the mod 1.1016
2. Installed it in the folder of steamapps common
3. applied the patch 1.017 to the above folder
4. applied 1.018 hotfix to the above folder
5. copy and replace of 1.017
6. run the game from the folder
7. appearance of the black window saying system is up to date click ok
8. steam window opens
9. nothing happen.
10. no mod or loading time of the mod

i have reapplied step by step accdg. (lord knows how many) to the previous help that you have given.

hopefully this msg will make you see the dilemma that i am facing and you can give some help...
