CoH: Modern Combat

So here's the problem. Myself and a friend are getting the mod up and running so we can play, and we each are having separate issues. The first issue on my side is that the game will not launch at all. No errors, no messages, nothing. I've looked on here, and followed tips and changed my shortcut, but all the game will do is show the steam "launching" box, then disappear. A few seconds later I can see the steam icon in my tray "syncing" which tells me that the game had opened and then closed. The game had been working fine the last time I had played it, so I cant say anything had really changed...

Second issue. Game installed, and updated to 1.018 for my friend, and when he launches he gets the "couldn't verify media" thing. I hadn't looked to much into it yet, so I figured I would post here for help. Both of us play and run regular COH just fine, so im not so sure its something on that end.

Your issue sounds like a bug caused by the recent 2.700.2.22 Steam patch (which locked out our DLLs and thus causes the game to crash upon start-up). We released hotfix 1.018 specifically to fix that; did you download and extract patches 1.017 and 1.018 correctly?

Is your friend using the new 2.700 Steam version of CoH, or the old retail (disc) 2.602 version?

his is the steam version, same as mine. like I said, we were playing regular COH not 2 days before, so im not sure what else it could be.

Assuming yes, then are you sure your problem isn't a result of either/both patches being extracted to the wrong directory like I said? They should have been extracted into your CoH root folder (for example, mine is: "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Company of Heroes Relaunch").

We're still not sure what's causing the recent wave of 'media verification' errors; it may be something related to the latest Steam CoH patch. You're sure that it doesn't affect regular CoH? Only MC?

as I speak, my friend is playing coh just fine, lol. so im not sure why it would single out the mod. I have moved my steam directory to another drive, and made sure that everything was installed in the proper directory. I may just have to do a clean sweep and re-download from scratch

Double check that you extracted the .rar files to the right place first. The 1.018 patch should specifically fixes your problem (caused by the latest Steam CoH update).
