Chinese voices

Hi guys,
I just had an idea (you probably already had before) how to give chinese units also chinese voices.
Wouldn't it be possible to get access to the voice-files of other games, like AoE 3 or something and use them for CoH?
At least at AoE units of the chinese faction speak chinese (though it might be a medieval-chinese).
Though the game takes place hundreds of years ago, I think for simple oders the sounds might still work and to have the PlA speak at least any type of chinese would be cool anyway (At least, that's my opinion).
but NOTICE: I really have no idea neither how to work properly with sound files, nor how to implement these files into CoH, so I can't tell if this would be even possible.
I just had the idea and thought posting it can't be bad :)

Great thought^^^

Developers could also (if possible) implement some Chinese from the game World of Tanks. IG files are easy to access, I assume, becouse there's a lot of crew sound mods other people make.
So I think importing thoose Chinese voices from WoT would work awesome on PLA tanks.

I think only copyrights can cause trouble, other than that...))

Sound modding is one of the most complex CoH modding processes there is. We don't know anyone in the CoH community that fully understands it, much less our current team (which is down to just me at the moment anyway). And like Alpha said permission issues are a big speedbump. As is the immense amount of work coding in all those files would require.

The PLA voices (or lack thereof) bug me as much as anyone else, but they're just something we have to live with for now. :/

Wasn't there someone who made a soundpack for MC?
I think it might already be a year ago but I remember you uploaded a patch with new sounds for guns, explosions and stuff like that. For those who wanted to keep the old sounds it was possible to patch the mod without these files (or was it the other way around...?).
Well anyway, maybe he/she knows something.

The official soundpack was implemented into the game now, but yes it used to be an additional addon for the game.

Weapon effects are easier to modify than voices as there are far fewer sound files (<5 per weapon as opposed to >15000 per faction). And the former can be added or switched pretty easily via direct substitution, OE and/or its .action file (holds impact information for when the weapon hits a target).

Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be possible if we had a decent voice actor, a decent studio and a sound guy who really knew what he was doing. But we don't have any of that. In fact I don't know if there are any more 'decent sound guys' anymore. :?
