guys... can somebody help me?
I was re-skinning the rifleman soldiers skin using the existent, I only added a new patch on his helmet, but when I save and transformed the DDS in RGT using the Corsix mod studio....the skin appear changed with the patch included all perfectly..
BUT
when I play with the regular skin (gray) all soldiers appear without skin (completly black uniform skin)

Any idea about what is happening? thanks

Did you save it as DXT1? With mip levels?

Just be aware that every time you convert a DDS/TGA to RGT it loses quality. Always work from a backup file if you can so it only ever gets converted once. ;)

thank you so much for the advice... anyway I always make a copy in other folder that can remove everything wrong I could do...

I have many question about skinning:

if I make a copy to any skin and change the name, the changes I make inside the copy affect the original skin?

How I make to assign this skin copy to a new unit?

thank you my brother and teacher....XD

Nope, copies and backups shouldn't affect the original.

To change a unit's RGT files, edit its RGM. Although this may not work properly anymore due to all the different texture state variations in the RGO.

but a backup is simple copy that you make in a external memory...

please correct me if I am wrong...

I made a copy of Abrams skin pack, when I want to change something, I change RGT to DDS to drop the old skin and after I open Paint.net to modify the skin, delete the all skin and add the copy I made in first time without any change...

let me be more specific:

I modify the skin copy (original), I make the changes I want but I do not save the changes in the original, just make a copy (Ctrl + V) with the skin changes and paste in the other file where I deleted the old skin...

in this way, I delete all changes made it in the original picture restoring...(do not save changes)

and in the other file (copy made from the original) I save the changes directly in the game without modify the original file...

The question is: Did lost quality using this method?

I can not see the difference in this moment because I made changes on 2 oportunities (only two times)

Depends the format you are using, you say you are copying it to another file, but what format is this file?

I don't think Paint.net can open/save DDS can it, you can always use .tga instead

yes, it can... I can open all kind of file (DDS, TGA, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIF)

when I made the first cenversion TGA to DDS, I took the DDS image and save the skin in my image file (copy) before make the changes I want in the skin but I am not save the changes, I make the copy of the original copy and pasted in a new page and save in the respective game data files and change the tank skin...

The original copy in my image files stay intact, without changes...

1st page with original, make the changes, make a copy.
pasted the copy in page 2nd (new page) in second page save the modification in respective file.

return to the 1st page and do not save the changes... exit

the image 1 (Original copy) is intact...

the question is: in this way, I lose image quality? or not? or it is necessary make a back up?

thank you so much and I really sorry for my bad english, It is dificult for me explain what I am doing...SORRY =(

If this is all done within the program before saving with compression, it should not lose quality.
