I don't believe it's in use anymore, as many of them were up-gunned to the 120mm smoothbore. But hey, it's just like the M60A3 - there's probably a whole store of them mothballed, ready for service.

I just have to get an official answer on this: Is it really that important if something is in active service?

It varies a lot depending on who you ask. The people who originally conceived the mod weren't sticklers for detail, and although our team has changed over time we have always (and will always) put authenticity second to gameplay.
That said, I personally believe that it's almost always possible to find a solution that allows for both.

Who actually came up with the idea for the mod and started it? I really don't know.

I prefer an M1A1 with the same 120mm cannon and weaker armor like what it is...
If you guys wanna to make things different, then there's another solution:
Ability: Call-in Reinforcements
Explanation: The beachhead has been secured, and follow-up troops are ready to deploy on the battlefield. Player will get a random battle group from follow-up troops (Since you don't know which force is the follow-up troop after you, you may get British, Austrilian, or even ROC battle group, contain an MBT/IFV and a group of infantry).

At least seems not in US anymore...They never lack of money.

I_am_a_Spoon wrote:The ABV sounds fun on paper, but the M58 line charges would just function too unconventionally for a game like CoH. Ultimately it just isn't designed well enough for front-line combat.
That said, we'd prefer not to go the CoH2 route and have identical M1A1s for two separate doctrines...
You mean it's hard to achieve in gameplay?
In my opinion, it can be achieved in a simple way: just make it work like Q5 Napalm.
When the ability was actived, ABV creates a flying unit, and the flying unit drops sachel charge (or say part of line charge) while it's flying. the line charge(s) dropped on the ground will be detonated in seconds since it hits the ground.

Changing stats around is one thing. Implementing units that aren't used anymore kind of takes the Modern away from "Modern Combat".
