HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam I can follows these steps completely and everything is found correctly. I don't know how far I should write it down,is this good? I see most people having the same problem and just as you said Darkbladecr the installer doesn't allow me to choose a registry. It shows a quick-green progress bar pop-up that goes by too fast to read it and then it starts the installer and I get the immediate network location error. I honestly don't think it is a problem with Steam but with the Installer(not trying to offend). First time I had any problems with MC anyway.

Regarding the: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Valve\. I can find everything aswell.

We just created the keys in the correct Place - and the installer run..

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Valve\Steam\InstallPath = c:\program files\steam

This was a 32Bit Windows 7 installation - that is probably the issue - the installer is looking for the 64bit keys..

Yes I suppose the 64bit search is shutting down the 32bit search :(

I'll look for a way to work

What? Could you please re-phrase that?

I think he made a custom HKEY in the normal 64 bit location with the Install path going to his steam install. However I wouldn't advise this as your are essentially making your system think you have 2 copies of steam.

I will just wait for you to tweak the installer then. I'm not experienced enough in these fields haha.

** This could corrupt Your Windows installation **

@Darkbladecr That is correct..

This is the workaround we had Luck With:

The system was a 32bit Windows 7 - the installer failed as described here.
Started regedit.exe (you shouldn't if you have no computer experience!!)
Navigated to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\
Added Key Wow6432Node (as it did not exist on a 32bit system)
Added Key Valve
Added Key Steam
Added Key InstallPath (type String)
Modified the value for InstallPath to "C:\ProgramFiles\Steam\"

Exited Regedit, and ran the installer..

The installer now finds the necessary information, but this might corrupt something else Down the line - so be warned!

Love the New installer - and that you guys made the MOD work With the relaunched COH Version! :D

I have a 64 bit version. I have all the files that I need in place(I followed the Steam steps and don't really know what to do then). Am I forgetting something or just bad luck?
