Hi everyone!

As you might have noticed, ModDB is currently hosting their 2012 Mod of the Year competition. Last time around we did amazingly well… with your help we actually managed to place second in ModDB’s Upcoming Mods category!

Any support for this year’s competition would be appreciated. If you can spare a second or two, make sure you head over to our ModDB homepage and send a vote our way! The voting period lasts right up until the 1st of January (thirty days this time), and you can vote for as many mods as you like.

And while you’re at it, don’t forget to check out all the other fantastic Company of Heroes mods out there!

Ok, so a recap of our achievements this year.

2012 has been a hugely important time for us. As a bunch of hobbyists its amazing to reflect back on how things have changed since the beginning of the year, and how this project has slowly taken shape throughout its development. Releasing Modern Combat to the public back in March was a hugely triumphant moment for us, and the collective response from the CoH community has been overwhelming. With your feedback and suggestions Modern Combat has evolved into something far surpassing our expectations.

And release wasn’t the end of it either. Since then we’ve pumped out literally thousands of various bug and balance fixes over the course of eleven patches. We’ve added a huge amount of new content, ranging from revisions and optimisations to new maps, models, units, weapons, abilities, sound FX, weapon FX, a singleplayer mission, Hardcore Mode, a Mumble server, a dedicated leaderboard and more. We’ve hosted two tournaments, complete with prizes, as well as a shoutcast competition.

To accomplish all that we’ve put in an enormous amount of work behind the scenes. Countless hours of modelling, skinning, importing, coding, balancing, bug-fixing, writing, mapping and other mundane tasks, all to make Modern Combat as perfect as it can be.

The team currently working on the mod is almost entirely different to the one that initiated the project in 2007, and lot of selfless people have contributed to Modern Combat over the years… without whom it wouldn’t be what it is today. We’ve seen many new members come and go, and have also lost old members to real life obligations and other unfortunate constraints. OnkelSam and MonkeySoldier were two obvious examples, and we were all extremely sorry to see them go.

Anyway, last but not least we’d like to thank you, the fans. Your enthusiasm consistently motivates us to achieve greater things. Thank you all for your support!

Don’t forget to check our Homepage for any updates you might have missed, and be sure to visit our Forums if you have any concerns, technical issues or suggestions!

Regards,

– The Modern Combat team.
